About Us

This business originated when I was converting my attic to a bedroom.  I did not have enough room to place a diagonal staircase, so I decided to put in a spiral  staircase.  My living room is nicely trimmed in wood so I decided to go with a wooden spiral staircase l so that it would blend with the other trim.  Due to the restricted area where it had to be placed, I need it to be as compact as possible yet provide adequate headroom while traversing it. It also had to exit onto the floor above in such a manner that the landing would be at the roof peak to provide maximum headroom upstairs, too.  After considerable research, I discovered that there were not any companies making any wooden spiral staircases  under 48” diameter.  So, I decided to build my own.  It had to be strong, and it had to be easy to set up and install. So the best choice would be to make it modular.  I did not want to do any laminating or bending of the wood, and make straight edges  instead of curved edges.  Straight cuts would be easier to perform with standard carpenter’s tools.   It took 5 attempts to get a modular design that had the strength to hold an adult & still fit into the area I hoped for.  (It actually ended up being a 40” x40” area to make it comfortable to climb.)  Perseverance paid off & this design worked.
